Smart Cookie Tutoring formed in 2016 under the supervision of Lisa-Marie Wynne. Having used tuition as a method to increase her income during law school, she took the brave step to launch her own business and turn a hobby into full-time work. Operating from Dunstable, Bedfordshire; Smart Cookie Tutoring combine home visits with planned homework to boost children’s confidence and ability in Maths and English.
As a new business Smart Cookie Tutoring had no brand awareness, and any clients Lisa-Marie held came from her own personal reputation. By taking the step into becoming a business Lisa-Marie had effectively returned to step one. The project had become about spreading the word of her services and excellent results and creating an exciting go to brand to showcase them.
We have been fortunate enough to work with Smart Cookie Tutoring since its formation in 2016. Starting with the brand creation, we worked at targeting parents of children aged four to eighteen. After several iterations, we settled on the Smart Cookie Owl, affectionately known as “Barnie”. The idea behind this stemming from AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh and the wise old owl. The comic styling allowing us to apply a light-hearted touch that appealed to both children and parents alike.
Since completion of the brand, we have collaborated on a number of projects, including business cards, flyers for distribution, booking sheets and advertising. We also designed and manage the Smart Cookie Website.
With a solid reputation for us to build a brand on, Smart Cookie Tutoring has gone from strength to strength. New parents are in contact on a weekly basis and Lisa-Marie’s timetable is filled both in and out of term-time. Smart Cookie Tutoring now boasts a brand name that rivals its service, keeping future marketing costs at a minimum.
